At last year’s Dulce Base: Fact or Fiction conference in Dulce, New Mexico, I had the privilege of sitting down with paranormal/UFO authors Christopher O’Brien (“Mysterious Valley”) and Greg Bishop (“Project Beta”) for wide-ranging interviews about the legendary underground base supposedly located there, Bigfoot sightings, underground tunnels, government disinformation and their latest books.

Dulce Underground Base

I attended the “Dulce Base: Fact or Fiction” conference in Dulce on Sunday, put on by Rio Rancho’s Norio Hayakawa. The overflow crowd had to move from the Best Western into a grocery store conference room next door. I must congratulate the Albuquerque Journal for being good sports about the conference and actually covering it. See the front page story here (You’ll have to go through the firewall first to read the story.) Don’t know that I learned a whole lot new about it, but I did hear a bunch of good stories about the huge number of Bigfoot sightings in the area and I recorded a couple of good interviews with authors Greg Bishop (Project Beta) and Christopher O’Brien (Mysterious Valley) that I hope to get posted by next week.

The Truth About Dulce

A former funeral director is hosting a conference in March to get to the bottom of the Dulce underground base legends. I was quoted in the story from the Albuquerque Journal about my thoughts on the matter. Of course, only a couple quotes were taken from a much longer interview. I mentioned that the genesis of the legend, as I understood it, was from activist/lecturer Phil Schneider, who is shown in “High Strange New Mexico” talking about an “alien firefight” at the site and from Paul Bennewitz, who was apparently fed a whole crapload of stuff by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations to throw him off about what kind of secret research was really going on at Kirtland Air Force base. Maybe this gathering will answer the questions, once and for all. But since Schneider and Bennewitz are both dead, I’m thinking that’s unlikely.
